Capital punishment on drug trafficking - is it mirror of society?

There is no denial that Nguyen done the crime, no denial that he should serve his time. However to cut short this young man's existence, in my opinion it's just brutal.

I've been following the case of an Australian young man, Nguyen Tuong Van, languishing in death row. Arrested in the airport transit lounge while waiting for his connection flight to Melbourne. He had in possession of about 400grams of heroin.

There is no denial that Nguyen done the crime, no denial that he should serve his time. However to cut short this young man's existence, in my opinion it's just brutal.

Capital punishment has my support in extreme cases - heinous murderer and terrorist are some of this cases. I just cannot accept Nguyen's crime carries the equivalent weights that justify capital punishment.

Society of all races around the world through out history use substance and alcohol for various reasons - be it medicinal, festival periods, successful crop harvest and so on. Let us just pause and reflect, you all will agree, in modern day society - The reality of life - we have to accept fatalities be it road carnage or alcohol and substance abuse. The old saying applies to all, "consumer beware, use with caution".

Law should be design to assist society to mature and progress in time as well as protecting them. When part of the law is outdated, it has to be review, or society in general will loose out as in the case with this young man.

Yours truly
