Cheers to a doggedly robust year ahead
AS we usher in 2006 on a seemingly positive turn according to the Government of Singapore, Think Centre takes this opportunity to wish fellow Singaporeans a good year ahead.
Economically, Think Centre together with the people, hold the Government to its forecast of a positive growth. We look forward to sustained economic growth which will engender creation of jobs, whether new or re-designed.
Socially, Think Centre together with the people, remind the Government of its promise of greater help for the needy, handicapped and illiterate. We look forward to the genuine cascading of the workfare benefits to those truly in need of such social welfare assistance.
Politically, Think Centre together with the people, call on the Government to institutionalise citizenship education and to allow greater freedoms in assembly and expression. We, as a nation, will only learn to develop into a politically vibrant society when citizens are empowered to understand, appreciate and participate beyond token representation, in our state of public affairs.
To Think Centre, 2006 will be a doggedly robust year. But we hope Singaporeans will be cheering in 12 months' time for a good year as promised by this Government.
Cheers to 2006!
