Poem: Hung at Dawn

Posted by Tony Soh under News on 3 September 2005

The poem highlights the desensitization of death penalty. It has become something natural, very much akin to the hanging of washings. But in the hanging of a human, a life is lost forever.

One fine day in Singapore

Jill was hung out to dry in the morning

Jack was hung at dawn

A life is lost…

The above poem highlights the desensitization of death penalty. It has become something natural, very much akin to the hanging of washing out in the sun in our tropical island. But in the hanging of a human, a life is lost forever.
