IWD, Dolls & Authorities

Posted by under News on 1 March 2003

To mark International Women's Day (IWD) on 8th March 2003, Think Centre applied to the Public Entertainment Licensing Unit (PELU) and the Media Development Authority (MDA) for a permit to put up an installation art display at the Speakers' Corner.

IWD (8th of March) is an occasion marked by women's groups around the world and celebrated by both men and women, young and old. This date is also commemorated at the United Nations and is designated in many countries as a national holiday.

The permit to mark this day is still pending approval from the authorities since Think Centre's application on the 10th and 11th of February 2003.

Think Centre hopes that such displays will be a medium for public education on local and international events.

We do not believe that there will be any security problem at the Speakers' Corner for such displays. But the organizers bear the risk of heavy rain!!
