Save JBJ Political Rally
01 April 2001

When SM Lee Kuan Yew was asked recently whether he would step down soon, he pointedly asked the reporter in return, "What would I do?" The same can be said of JBJ. What will he do if he is made a bankrupt and be completely out of the fray of the next elections. Like how SM Lee is an icon of Singapore politics, so is JBJ. Of course, for the establishment, he is the anti-hero and hence needs to be challenged.

Think Centre Applies for Permit to Sell at Rally
(Think Centre)

19 April 2001
Jacob George, Public Affairs Manager for Think Centre, took a trip down to the Environment Building at Scotts Road today (19/4/2001) to drive home a message at the Hawkers’ Department.

The night before on 18th April 2001 he had faxed a letter applying for a permit to sell books, t-shirts and stickers at the “Save JBJ” rally. On reaching the office he found that the Section Head for the department was out for lunch. Approached by a staff, he checked with her whether they had received the letter faxed to them and in a voice which did not hide the irritation she replied “We received it last night and it will be forwarded to the Section Head who would then assign it to the an officer.”

Before departing George said that he came down personally to ensure that they had received the fax and more importantly to drive home the urgency of the matter!

Stay tuned for further updates as Think Centre weaves its way through this administrative tangle!
