Waiting For a Tea Invitation Session?
(Think Centre Mailbox)

18 September 2001 by Jason Lee
I refer to the "letter" (if I may regard that as one), "Send SM a Birthday Wish, Think Centre!" as well as previous "letters" by Mr S Ramamirtham.
On the surface, it appears that this is one man who is fully satisfied with what our Government has done for us. However, I feel that he has a hidden agenda in what he has done all this while. At this point, please do not misunderstand me. I am not writing to voice my stand as a pro-PAP or anti-non PAP views / policies. Neither am I pro-opposition nor anti-PAP.

However, as a neutral observer from his previous views and feelings as expressed on Think Centre's website and in the media, this is indeed one man who is hoping that the ruling party will invite him for a tea session, and subsequently invite him to contest in the General Elections! Come on, Mister, wake up. Yes, while he belongs to the minority race, what makes him think that simply by voicing his constant criticisms of non-PAP members, he will be invited for a tea session? Come on, please do not be naive!

Another request which I would like to raise here is that I do hope Think Centre would seriously consider not publishing future articles / mails that are silly and naive in nature. While I so understand that the centre is looking to publish mails of all nature, be it from supporters or critics, may I urge the webmaster to seriously decide the types of mails that we readers would like to read. To put it simply, I believe that regardless of one's political affiliation here, no one is impressed by what this man had said all this while. Another way of looking at this man is that he is criticizing simply for the sake of criticizing. All the media organisations in Singapore have a process of considering and choosing articles that are worth publishing (regardless of the nature) and may the Think Centre do likewise. Otherwise, not only is it a waste of time putting his article on the site, it would also waste the limited space available on your site.

While I do appreciate reading alternative views on your site, I seriously feel embarrassed by the views of some people. Let us not express ourselves simply for the sake of opening our mouths.

Jason Lee
